DIY Hand Sanitizer Campaign

When public health officials announced that the novel coronavirus was spreading quickly and quietly throughout our communities, people naturally flocked to stock up on hand sanitizer to protect themselves and their loved ones. Unfortunately, the demand for these products outmatched the supply, and many who were especially vulnerable to the virus found that they couldn’t get a hold of any hand sanitizer.

To help those most susceptible to the disease, United We Stand researched how to make safe and effective hand sanitizer at home. The CDC recommends a minimum of 60% alcohol, with 70% being the optimal percentage. Using isopropyl alcohol and aloe vera gel, United We Stand filmed a DIY hand sanitizer video to inform those who need to stay safe but haven’t been able to purchase any. The video below provides instructions on how to most effectively mix the two ingredients for protection against the virus.
